Denver Area Fall Family Sessions

I love fall sessions in Colorado. Watching the children grow a little bit more every year, noticing the small changes in their faces and personalities, is one of the best parts of this work. Fall brings warm light, soft colors, and the easy, playful backdrop that makes family photos feel natural and timeless. I have picked some of my favorite photography locations around Denver and the front range to be a beautiful seasonal backdrop to. your photos.

These sessions are designed to be fun and stress-free. I focus on simple prompts, gentle direction, and real moments so families can relax and enjoy being together. The goal is to capture genuine connection rather than stiff poses and to have fun while doing it!

These sessions are designed to be fun and stress-free. I focus on simple prompts, gentle direction, and real moments so families can relax and enjoy being together. The goal is to capture genuine connection rather than stiff poses and to have fun while doing it!

I offer three session types to fit different needs:

  • Mini sessions: A quick, focused option — perfect for updates, seasonal photos, or families with young children who do best with a short outing.

  • Golden Hour Petite/Petite sessions: A bit more time for variety and more relaxed pacing, great for capturing a few outfit changes or more groupings.

  • Full sessions: Comprehensive coverage for families with more children and a fuller storytelling experience with a variety of candid and lightly posed images. Choice of location within 16 miles of I-25 and University.

  • I also offer extended family sessions for two or more family groups.

If your family loves the idea of an easy, joyful fall tradition, these sessions are an ideal way to mark the year and preserve those small, precious moments as your kids grow.

In-home newborn photography in Lakewood Colorado

In-home newborn sessions capture quiet, real moments—tiny curled hands, soft window light, the nursery’s smells and sounds. Photographing baby at home preserves features and surrounding details: the loving mess of new-parent life, the feeding chair, heirlooms and outfits. These images become a living archive, grounding memory in place and texture so you can feel those first weeks as vividly years later.

New Family snuggle time. With an in-home session your furry family members can join in too!

In-home newborn sessions are relaxed, cozy, and wonderfully simple — the perfect way to document this fleeting, tender time without adding extra stress to your life.

Comfort and convenience

  • You’re already where your baby feels safest. No packing, no extra travel, no schedule juggling. I come to you with everything needed: soft wraps, blankets, simple backdrops, and a calm, experienced approach.

  • Feeding, diaper changes, and naps happen naturally. We work around your baby’s rhythm so there’s no rush and you get authentic, restful images.

Natural, intimate storytelling

  • In-home sessions capture the little details that make this stage unique: tiny fingers and toes, the way a parent cradles their child, the patches of late-night light in your nursery, the family dog sleeping at your feet.

  • I blend lightly posed newborn portraits with candid family moments — skin-to-skin bonding, quiet glances, the gentle chaos of older siblings meeting the baby. These images feel like your home: personal and real.

A calm, experienced guide

  • With seven years photographing families, three kids of my own, and certification as a birth doula, I bring gentle confidence and practical know-how. I move at your baby’s pace, soothe and pose with care, and create a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can be themselves.

  • I’ll offer simple styling suggestions and guide sibling interactions so photos look effortless and connected, not staged.

Quick, comfortable workflow

  • Sessions are designed to be flexible — typically 75–90 minutes, — long enough to get a variety of images without wearing anyone out.

  • I handle lighting, composition, and baby-safe posing. You focus on cuddles and connection while I document the moments that matter.

Heirloom-quality memories

  • The result is a collection of images that feel like your life right now: quiet mornings, soft linens, sleepy smiles, and the warmth of new family routines. These photos become the keepsakes you’ll return to again and again.

If you want an in-home newborn session that’s easy, calming, and full of honest connection, I’ll bring the experience and equipment — you bring the cuddles. Together we’ll capture this beautiful, brief chapter in your family’s story.

Studio or in-home Session?Newborn Photography in Denver

Denver newborn and family photographer offers in-home as well as studio newborn sessions for metro denver and front range families.

Authentic moments artfully documented in the comfort of your own home or a beautiful natural light studio in South Denver/Englewood close to I-25 and University or Hampden exits.

Jessica has been documenting newborns in Colorado for 6 years and is also a mom of three as well as a certified birth doula.

She loves documenting your family during this special time to create memories to last a lifetime.

Baby at a in-home newborn session in Denver metro area.

I absolutely love both in-home lifestyle newborn sessions as well as studio sessions. Many of my clients know exactly which they would prefer, but if you aren’t 100% sure about which might be best for your family, here are some thoughts to consider:

In home-session benefits
Having your photography session in your home is convenient and doesn’t require leaving the comfort of your own home after giving birth.

If you have other small children it can be easier for them to be in their own space with their snacks and toys at hand. If you are a first time parent it is one less thing to have to go out and do in the world during your precious postpartum time.

In-home sessions allow a fuller picture of your complete story during this time - I will look to capture your everyday life and the small, meaningful details that make your space uniquely yours along with your family in their element. We only need a few tidy rooms to create clean, natural images that feel true to your family.

I travel from Castle Rock to Broomfield and all along the Denver metro area. A reasonable travel fee may apply depending on your location.

In-home sessions can easily include your furry children!

In-home newborn sessions are authentically you!

Studio Session benefits

If photographing in your home feels overwhelming, or if you just lean towards a more simple clean style, the studio provides a calm, simple backdrop so the focus stays on you and your loved ones.

My Denver area studio is centrally located close to the I-25 and University or Hampden exits. This is a beautiful natural light space in Englewood, perfect for a photo session with your family and new baby.

We can keep it simple and artistic while documenting all the authentic interactions that occur during our time together. The light is good and you can leave all the tidying up to me. We can set up a completely minimal vibe if that’s your thing or we can incorporate my studio furnishings and accessories into your images. The studio has a couch, daybed with white quilt, antique cradle, wicker baby basket and various chairs. I also have some fun things for the older siblings such as a rocking chair and rocking horse, toys and books and my first toy camera as well! I always welcome and encourage families to bring any personal items such as blankets, books, stuffies and anything you might want to incorporate into your imagery.

Studio newborn sessions - sweet and simple!

If you are still on the fence reach out for a short consultation and we can work out the details. Either way you will never regret documenting these first precious moments in time with your family!

Maeve’s Studio Newborn Session

Sweet Maeve came in to the studio for her Newborn Session and was so amazing. She was pretty sleepy with a few minutes of alert time and only a tiny bit of fussing. She made it through 3 outfit changes and with a little feeding and snuggles from mom & dad we were done before we knew it. It’s always such a joy to meet these brand new humans and document this fleeting time.

Caleb’s Studio Newborn Session at Little Rabbit Studio in Denver

I love when I get to document babies as they grow. I was at Caleb’s birth as the birth photographer and then his mom decided to do some newborn photos about 8 weeks later. Caleb was the second baby in my studio, when I was still getting everything together in October. He has the most precious little smile and this session is proof that it’s amazing to get baby photos at any point during the first year. This is a very simple session, and I loved the white and jeans - simple and beautiful. You can check out his birth story over at Birth5280, Second Time Labor, Unmedicated at St. Joes here!

Carter’s In-home Newborn Session

In home lifestyle newborn session in Denver, Colorado.

The day of the session it was a gorgeous Colorado morning in Denver with bright blue skies and fresh snow on the ground. Carter was born at the end of December and was my last official newborn of 2022! He was so sweet and calm during our session. Mom warned me that he always did the cutest stretch and yawn sequence once he was free from his swaddle and he did not disappoint! This is such a sweet newborn moment that I always love to catch it when I can!

Got to get those detail shots!!

Sweetest nursery with perfect light!

Photo with the whole family!

I had to love on the feathered family members too!
