Hello, I’m Jessica Dory!

Hi! I’m Jessica, but most of my friends call me Jess.

I was born in Illinois, but had my first birthday in Colorado, so I’ve always considered myself a Colorado girl at heart.

I have a Bachelor of Fine Art and a lifelong dream of being an artist. Photography has been part of my life for years, and I gravitated toward documentary photography from the beginning. I love photographs that feel honest and alive—the little moments that happen in between the ones we planned.

I’m married to a wonderful, supportive husband and am Mom to three great kids (my oldest is actually out the house already!! My younger two are 8 and 10.)

I inherited the red hair that runs through the women in my family—my mom, grandma, great-grandma, and now me.

Before photography became my full-time work, I spent many years in the service industry as a chef, baker, server, bartender, floor manager, and day-of wedding coordinator. Those years taught me how to work hard, move quickly, solve problems, read a room, and genuinely enjoy connecting with people. All of those skills have followed me into photography.

I am a certified birth doula, love babies and could happily talk about birth for a very long time.

I love the hilarious, surprising, and sometimes wonderfully wise things kids say. Most of all, I love the connection between people and the stories that make each family unique.

Family, community, and connection are incredibly important to me. So are inclusiveness, kindness, and appreciating the wonderfully different ways families can look.

My hands are full, my sense of humor is strong, and my love for photographs runs deep.

I’d love to meet you, get to know your people, and make some photographs that feel like you.
