Studio Maternity Session Client Guide

Pregnant woman in lace dress sitting on a rug, smiling with eyes closed, indoors by a window, with a bouquet of dried flowers in the background.

I absolutely love documenting this season of life and the natural beauty that it brings. Bellies are so beautiful and capturing the experience of pregnancy and this special time before you meet your baby is so incredibly special. Whether it is just you or we are including your partner or young child, we can create the perfect session for you.

Bump friendly dresses

Available to borrow/wear. Larger dresses can be clipped in the back if needed.

The Details

My Studio Newborn Sessions are simple, artistic and an opportunity for us to collaborate to bring your vision to life. Whatever your vision is we can play and work together to create images that reflect your style and personality to document this time.

I love to add in flowers - fresh and dried, and include fabric and textures to add visual layers. You are welcome to bring your ultrasound pics, baby onesie, stuffed toy, or baby shoes. We can listen to your favorite music and hopefully have a great time creating an artistic document of this time.

The studio is a blank palette to bring your vision to life. I use natural light and lots of white to create a simple backdrop where you and your connection to your baby and partner can shine. I have a couch, daybed, peacock chair, stool and various other chairs available. We can also do a completely bare wall and minimalist set up.

I love to see your Pinterest boards for these sessions to get a sense of your style and imagery that is appealing to you. Happy to recreate any image that you love within the lifestyle natural light genre.

Ideas on what to wear

You are welcome to do 1-2 quick outfit changes if desired.

  • If you want to do photos with bare belly, I love this - just let me know and happy to chat through your vision and comfort level.

  • A pretty robe allows some skin to show but can also preserve a more modest image.

  • Think about simple earthy tones. These look great paired with a knit sweater, jean jacket, shawl or vest.

  • For dresses I love Baltic Born & Joyfolie. Poshmark and Facebook Marketplace are a great place to get dresses that have only been worn once or twice. I have a handful of bump friendly dresses available to borrow, if you are interested please let me know.

  • Pops of color are fun and add visual interest - I'm a huge fan of earthy oranges and yellows - a little can go a long way!

  • Texture always looks great in photos!

  • Wear what you feel comfortable and cute in.

  • Please avoid logos

  • Your favorite jeans and a nice t-shirt can look just as cute as a dress!

  • Don't forget about footwear! Bare feet can be an option for some of the images.

  • A cute hat is a fun way to add variety for a few pictures.
